firefly - theatre work
firefly
Firefly is a theatrical coming-of-age tale of loss, grief and forgiveness. The show weaves together Sally’s songs, movement, AV, autobiographical stories and spoken word.
First developed and presented as part of the Auckland Arts Festival’s 2017 RAW Series, Firefly featured songs from Sally’s debut album Weightless — listen here.
Collaboration with Andrew Foster, Rowan Pierce, Claire O’Neil, Emma Willis, and Eden Mulholland.
Supported by Creative New Zealand.
Sally’s brother, Ben Stockwell, was a musician, sound engineer, and producer. Firefly weaves together accounts of growing up with him, his battle with drug addiction and recovery, and his accidental overdose.
