firefly - theatre work
firefly
Firefly is a theatrical coming-of-age tale of loss, grief and forgiveness. The show weaves together Sally’s songs, movement, AV, autobiographical stories and spoken word.
First developed and presented as part of the Auckland Arts Festival’s 2017 RAW Series, Firefly featured songs from Sally’s debut album Weightless.
Collaboration with Andrew Foster, Rowan Pierce, Claire O’Neil, Emma Willis, and Eden Mulholland.
Supported by Creative New Zealand.
Sally’s brother, Ben Stockwell, was a musician, sound engineer, and music producer. Firefly weaves together memories of their childhood, his long battle with drug addiction, his recovery, and his accidental overdose.
